CMS announces ICHRA name change to CHOICE Arrangement

Effective September 3, 2026, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that the ICHRA (Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement) will now be called the CHOICE Arrangement (Custom Health Option and Individual Care Expense Arrangement).

Although the name change is effective immediately, currently active plans can continue using existing naming and rule conventions.

RightPath has been a huge advocate of these plans as a lower-cost ACA compliance solution that eliminates further claims risk for employers with high-turnover, hourly-wage workforces.

If you have any questions about your current ACA-compliant solution or are interested in learning more about the advantages of a CHOICE Arrangement (formerly ICHRA), message us on LinkedIn or click here to email us.
